Economic impact
Founded the African Leadership Academy (ALA) in Johannesburg in 2008, a two-year pre-university programme selecting approximately 250 students annually from across Africa on a substantially subsidized basis. Co-founded African Leadership University (ALU), which opened campuses in Mauritius (2015) and Kigali, Rwanda (2017), offering accredited bachelor's degree programmes. Co-founded ALX, a technology-skills training platform; by 2023, ALX reported enrolment of more than 500,000 learners across Africa in software engineering, data science, and product-management programmes, per ALX published figures. The African Leadership Group has raised more than US$70 million in combined philanthropic and commercial investment, per public fundraising announcements.
