Economic impact
Founded Engineers and Planners (E&P) in 1993, a mining and construction services company headquartered in Accra. By 2024, E&P had grown into one of West Africa's largest indigenous mining-services contractors, providing earthmoving, haulage, and maintenance services at multiple operational gold mines including Newmont Ahafo, Newmont Akyem, and AngloGold Ashanti's Obuasi mine, per company disclosures. The company directly employs several thousand Ghanaian nationals in machine operation, civil engineering, and maintenance roles. In 2019, Mahama established the Mahama Clean Energy Centre, a renewable energy investment vehicle targeting utility-scale solar projects in Ghana.
