Economic impact
Founded Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Limited (IVM) in Nnewi, Anambra State in 2007; the company began commercial-scale assembly of buses and trucks in 2010 and expanded to include utility vehicles, sedans, and motorcycles. As of 2024, IVM employed approximately 8,000 workers at its Nnewi facility, per Africa Business Insider citing company disclosures, with plans to add a further 2,000 positions at a second plant. IVM has supplied vehicles under government procurement contracts to the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, and the Ghanaian government. Chukwuma also controls Innoson Technical and Industrial Company, a plastics and electronics manufacturer in Nnewi. IVM produces more than 30 vehicle models and sells into markets across West and Central Africa.
